An Effective and Cost Efficient Model to Address the Core Life Issues of Those that Could Face Homelessness and the Near Homeless

Fox Valley Carpenter's Place was launched in 2004 in response to various community stakeholders' desire to address the issue of those that could face homelessness and the near homeless in a manner that resulted in sustainable outcomes. At that time and until recently, no organization used a holistic case management approach to walking alongside a near homeless individual with the goal of assisting that person in returning to a normal lifestyle, with basic needs being met, being gainfully employed, and the 14 identified areas of their life working in some fashion. This is a gap that Fox Valley Carpenter's Place is filling in the Aurora and Fox Valley community.

• Fox Valley Carpenter's Place is the only organization that coordinates the services an individual is receiving from many other social service agencies. And Fox Valley Carpenter's Place is the only organization chosen by 75-year old Wayside Cross to provide life-changing holistic case management. Fox Valley Carpenter's Place routinely meets near-homeless and homeless individuals at three soup kitchens in Aurora.
  
  
• Fox Valley Carpenter's Place is the only organization that focuses on prevention, not intervention. It reaches out to any individual receiving services from other social service organizations or churches in the Aurora Fox Valley area. Fox Valley Carpenter's Place also begins case management of the Wayside Cross Ministry Master's Touch program participants approximately half way through their 6 month program.
